Seattle Chiropractor Capitol Hill » Our Office http://www.capitolhillchiropractor.com Seattle Chiropractic & Applied Kinesiology Mon, 26 Apr 2010 16:57:08 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.9.2 en hourly 1 30+ years of migraines disappear after a gentle chiropractic adjustment! http://www.capitolhillchiropractor.com/2009/04/2-patients-with-migraines-for-30years-find-relief-with-chiropracticsm/ http://www.capitolhillchiropractor.com/2009/04/2-patients-with-migraines-for-30years-find-relief-with-chiropracticsm/#comments Thu, 30 Apr 2009 23:21:42 +0000 Dr Jared http://www.capitolhillchiropractor.com/?p=258 This was another amazing week for our patients at The Vital Energy Center.  A long time client of ours referred his friend in who has been suffering from migraines since he was 8 years old.  He had never been to a chiropractor before as his regular doctor had discouraged it and only offered medication to relieve the pain, but nothing to address the cause of the migraines.   Well Mike (name changed for privacy reasons) decided to come in as his friend had great results here and mentioned that we were different and offered a very gentle and unique approach to chiropractic.    On the initial visit, I spoke with Mike for about :20 minutes and discovered that he suffered head trauma when he was a kid and the migraines started shortly thereafter.  Everyday, for 30 more years, he was in pain.  His medication would only work sometimes  and he would often be incapacitated due to the pain.   Before conducting the exam, I clearly explained to Mike what chiropractic is, how it works, and exactly what we would and what we were looking for in the exam.  During the exam it became clear to both of us that the migraines were a result of cervical (neck) dysfunction.   The examine revealed a subluxation (spinal misalignment) in his upper cervical spine (the area where the skull meets the neck) that was irritating his nerve system and causing his pain.   We completed the exam and were now ready for an adjustment.  Mike was clearly anxious and nervous about his first adjustment, so i patiently explained that it was gentle, specific, painless and he would likely begin to feel better shorly afterwards.   A sigh of relief as he lay down on the adjusting table.  The adjustment was perfect!   Mike sat up with nothing but a blank stare across his face.  A quiet moment before a big grin came across his face.   I asked if he was ok and he simply said “It’s gone.”    Mike was in disbelief that such a gentle adjustment could be so powerful and would it last?   I then instructed him on self care exercises and proper sitting and standing posture.  A few days later Mike returned.  His adjustment was holding,  He was still smiling and still migraine free!     Chiropractic is AMAZING!!  And a fantastic way to  eliminate headaches, neck pain, back pain and many other types of physical dysfunction without dangerous drug!!   Chiropractic helps your body heal itself!!  If you’re like Mike and are experiencing migraines or other pain dont be afraid, give us a call, I think you’ll be glad you did!

“Over the last 25 years, I have started several businesses in this neighborhood and have always been grateful for my local supporters. In the vein of mutual appreciation, I want to tell you about a treasure on North Capitol Hill that you may not know about: Dr. Jared Kohler, Chiropractic Doctor and Applied Kinesiologist . Dr. Kohler’s clinic , The Vital Energy Center, is in a lovely house on the corner of 10th and E. Boston, just across from Bertschi School. Several Massage Therapists and a Nutritionist offer their services there, as well.

As some of you know, I am a landscaper and do tons and tons of stone work, sometimes too much for my body. Pushing hard on a project, I found one day that my back had seized.

I couldn’t turn my torso or my head even slightly, not even enough to slide into a car!

Dr. Kohler was the closest healer of any kind that I could walk to. And I am glad I did! In one (emergency) session, Dr. Kohler freed me up: pain gone, flexibility returned, and I walked out floating and free, if still a little tender. Wow, that was some magic! I had the wee bit of good sense to slow down my work a bit, but Dr. Kohler kept me mobile for the duration and in good time I healed completely

A year or so later, I was building a set of stone stairs, working late, and overdid it again. Oof. Once again, Dr. Kohler took care of me, though this injury required a complete work-stoppage for healing time and continued care. Nevertheless, I could feel from the first visit that I was on my way to correction. I know that if I set my intention to really take care of my health, Dr. Kohler could do further wonders for me. In the meantime, I know he is there…and his care keeps me in business!

While I may be the “urgent care” type, Dr. Kohler treats all kinds of issues, from injuries to preventive and wellness care. In my experience, his methods are gentle and painless – not crack and crunch.

He is caring, joyful, communicative, and truly interested in educating me. He also frequently makes recommendations for things for me to do at home/work/play to heal or keep myself healthy. And, he does not guilt-trip me if I don’t “do my homework”.

I cannot do justice, verbally, to Dr. Kohler’s methods and the subtleties of his approach. For that I suggest you walk on over and talk to Heather, his receptionist, who can give you more information.
